DESCRIPTION
After the success of the original course, Rachael Redfern’s Performance Course for fusion bellydancers is finally back after further development, leading to an incredible opportunity for dancers to showcase their own solo, duet or small group work on a beautiful large theatre stage in Central London on Friday 12th December.
This course is designed for students keen to explore the process of creating and developing their own work. The piece can be fully choreographed, structured improvisation, or something in between. Rachael will be demystifying the process behind building a dance piece, providing tools, approaches, exercises and games she’s amassed across the years of her career to help you unlock your own creative potential and push your performance skills.
Each week class time will explore a mixture of lecture, discussion and dance exercises exploring a different aspect of the creative process, from building a character, themes and narrative, creating story arcs, song maps and choreography notation, developing musicality and track editing, movement analysis and energy dynamics within fusion style, combination creation and personal vocabulary, style exploration, self expression, audience connection, stagecraft, feedback and analysis, pre-show and backstage preparation and costuming.
Most valuable of all, the process will be shared as part of a supportive creative class community all working and sharing together towards the same goal - a fabulous and fun showcase we’ll all create and perform in together! The creative process is so much easier when shared in community rather than isolation.
By the end you will have a piece to be proud of, a memory and experience to treasure, and tools and notes to keep and refer to again and again as you grow throughout your dance journey.
The course will include:
• 14 hours of class time 7-9pm Wednesdays 29th Oct - 10th Dec
• 1 hr private class/coaching/feedback session with Rachael in person to be taken during the course
• Topic notes and online chat group with peer support
• Performance slot and seat for you to watch the theatre show, Friday 12th December.
Several students that completed the previous course have since gone on to perform their work in fusion festivals both in the UK and internationally. Here is a testimonial from a previous student:
“I took Rachael’s course on building choreography one year into my dance journey, and it was an amazing experience! The course provided helpful tips, both theoretical and practical, on musicality, patterns, and tapping into a creative flow.
What I really loved was how Rachael encouraged us to discover and embrace our personal style instead of trying to fit into a mold. By the end of the course, everyone had created something unique, and we were all blown away by each other’s showcases. I can't recommend this course enough!”
Spaces are now highly limited for this opportunity. Payment plans can be arranged, but a deposit is required to secure your place.

Rachael is a wonderful, inspirational teacher. I have only been attending her classes for a few months but I feel I have learnt so much already! Each class is well structured, with sufficient time spent on warm-up and conditioning exercises that help you to develop good and safe dance techniques. The choreographies that Rachael brings to class are beautiful and are great fun to learn. They offer challenge and introduce new techniques to work on, but each movement is broken down and drilled, with a lot of helpful hints, tips and guidance from Rachael that all help you to grow and develop as a dancer. Her meticulous approach combined with her fun, warm personality make her a great teacher. No matter what level you are at, as her student, you feel encouraged and empowered to explore and learn.
