Cinematographic, angry, agile, dramatic and somewhat weird; this class will explore Julieta's signature 'Retro' Bellydance Stylisation with special focus on posture, gaze work and space dynamics alongside texture work and speed play. Julieta cannot think about the Retro style without thinking about the cinematographic language of the time from dramatic zooms to closed shots in contrast with very open shots. We are going to take these inspirations and apply them to our technique. Prepare for the Retro Hurricane to invade every last hair on your body, bringing with it a full transformation from head to toe.

Flexibility, Fluidity and Flow. How can we work on the flow of our movements as we let them run through our entire body like water? How can we smooth everything out and make moves look even more "juicy", enhancing the effect the movements have? In this workshop we move through our whole body and work intensively on our flexibility. Leocadia will share fusion bellydance and waving techniques with you as well as flexibility training especially tailored for your moves. Practice fluidity technique in this workshop and next time you’ll slither on stage like a serpent.

Julieta is renowned for her innovative fusion floorwork overflowing with personality and flair. Here she will be sharing a taste of her techniques and tools to approaching floorwork in expressive and interesting ways. This workshop will explore the sequence “Secret Passages”, a name reflecting its intention of discovering new pathways and ways of transitioning into, across and away from the floor with the aim to provide you with new perspectives and a lot of creative tools. It has everything from sudden changes to space dynamics, big movements and intricate leg mechanics as well as isolations and shapes in various positions.
WS4 SUN 11:00-13:00 Julietta Maffia - Own the Space £35
The mission of this workshop is to expand our range of movement through space but also in our imagination. Let’s explore pushing the limits with smart practice & big movement intentions! We will get there through Biomechanics, Proprioception and Visualisation tools. This class will include a Vintagey Combination in order to absorb and experience with the body all the information we have learned. It features amazing space dynamics, strong musicality, and very expressive arms and legs variations.
WS5 SUN 13:30-17:00 Rachael Redfern - Pythia Performance Track £60/£45/£35
For the first time ever Rachael is offering a London workshop with group performance opportunity! Spaces highly limited. This intermediate-advanced choreography is to the full track Pythia by Amanati, a sensual and serpentine routine that will develop your musicality, precision and expression. Captivating intricacy meets powerful drama with signature Rachael moves such as the Cauldron Pot and Mystic Meg.
First 2 hours open to all. Last hour group rehearsal for performers only (half hour break in between). Performers will be expected to be experienced working at an intermediate/advanced level in fusion style and to prepare in advance by familiarising themselves with the online course material ahead of the workshop. Any doubts get in touch!
WS5 PERFORMANCE TRACK: £60 Full 3 hours, recorded online choreo course/breakdown videos, group chat and performer ticket for the Sunday closing show. Costume costs will be kept to a minimum. Online course material available to review until 5th June.

All soloist/duet/trio applications must book minimum two workshops each plus performer ticket for the show they will perform in. For larger groups, each performer must book minimum one 2 hour workshop plus performer ticket. Submitting an application does not guarantee a performance slot, but we are doing our best by holding two shows! To request to perform please get in touch and include a link to a past performance video.

JULIETA MAFFIA (ARGENTINA)
Julieta Maffia is a dancer, teacher & choreographer based in Buenos Aires Argentina. She owns Saturnus Dance Studio where she teaches Fusion Bellydance & Conditioning. She's been teaching for over a decade. Since the end of the pandemic, Julieta has been touring all over the American Continent, Europe & Asia. Julieta is a curious artist, she loves learning other crafts in order to develop new ideas in Fusion Bellydance. Curious facts: She is a certified Datura teacher, Pilates instructor & GUESS WHAT? a former heavy metal singer. |

Leocadia is a performer and teacher based in Hanover, Germany recognised for her captivating dark fusion style. Her work combines sublime expression and opulent costumes with powerful feminine movements and precise technique influenced by her experience in burlesque, fusion, Fat Chance style and ballet. As a psychology student with a focus on coaching, her lessons always include supportive coaching aspects and concepts to holistically promote the well-being and progress of her students. |

Rachael is an internationally acclaimed fusion bellydancer based in London, UK. She is well-known for her distinctive dance stylisation infused with glamorous dark vintage aesthetics For over five years she has worked professionally full-time as a teacher, performer, producer and director and has taught and performed in over ten countries. Her latest project is organising the first edition of London Fusion Fest! |
