WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

WS1 SAT 10:30-12:30 Rachael Redfern - Armed & Dangerous
Learn beautiful and unusual arm technique with lots of ever-flowing and innovative pathways to captivate and inspire! In this workshop we explore the secrets behind serpentine fluidity and flow fused with statuesque grandeur though beautiful, interesting armwork elegantly fused with different isolation patterns throughout the body. You'll come away with lots of new sequencing ideas, mini combos and inspirations alongside technical clarity.

WS2 SAT 13:00-15.00 Tiare Valouria - Earth and Water
Earth: Inspired by the suit of Pentacles in the Tarot, Earth movements invoke stability, anchored articulations, strength, and an essence of regality. Here we lay our foundations and learn grounding techniques for empowered movement by practicing powerful anchors in the hips and chest and grow from there with elegant and unusual arm formations inspired by the branches of trees.
Water:  Circular, serpentine, seductive and transcendent, the element of water governs our trajectory of circulatory movement patterns, serpentine stylizations and energetic flow. With a focus on softening around the edges, and approaching the dance as an offering. Inspired by the suit of Cups in the Tarot; the Elemental Fusion Water motifs reflect the wisdom and majesty of water’s flowing nature.

WS3 SAT 15:15-17:15 Marek - Transitional Flow
Ever struggle to connect your movements seamlessly, especially in improvisation? This workshop will help you understand the important details of transitioning between movements to create beautiful, seemingly effortless movement using basic FCBD style steps, musicality, posture and the beautiful use of hands and timing. These elements are the secret to a strong, embodied and grounded presence in your dance.
You do not need to have a knowledge of FCBD style to benefit from this workshop. Marek will help you to find your own flow in your dance style using the concepts of the improvisational style of FCBD.

WS4 SUN 10:30-12:30 Tiare Valouria - Fire and Air
Inspired by the suit of Wands in the Tarot, fire movement motifs are uplifting, playful, passionate, spicy, and empowering, featuring invigorating movements like shimmies, precision in staccato articulations,  serpentine strikes, quickening with varying speeds, and clever transitions for unlocking an experience of dance liberation and freedom.
With Air we move into practicing traveling techniques and weightlessness combined with thoughtful articulations. Air breathes intellect into our dance structuring while creating meaningful pathways for our movement. All of the other elements find unity in the realm of Air and give us wings to soar.  Inspired by the suit of Swords in the Tarot; the Elemental Fusion Air motifs reflect clarity, focus, precision, intelligence, weightlessness and mastery of the movement.

WS5 SUN 13:00-15:00 Rachael Redfern - Layering
Layering is one of the wow factors in fusion, so let’s dive in! Expect a major technique tuneup deepening your understanding of not only how to effectively drill but truly dance with these techniques and give them attitude. Challenging layers of different isolations combined in unusual ways will be explored to really take your presentation to the next level. Expect to learn multiple tips and tricks with plenty of challenge as we work throughout the whole body, from head to hips, arms to feet. Both brain and body will get plenty to chew on here!

WS6 SUN 15:30-17:30 Marek - Turns and Spins - The Calm in the Storm
Scared to showcase more spins on stage or unsure how to nail strong technique? This workshop will break things down and expand your options, based on FCBD style's dramatic and statuesque spins and slow turns vocabulary that can be applied beautifully to other styles. Learn how to harness your power and stay strong and in control in your turning movements. If spins and turns are your weak point, let Marek help you to step out of your comfort zone with ease and without spinning off the rails!
